Sincerely, Sloane Episode #15 | Brehanna Daniels ✨
Embracing warm welcomes in a new situation 🏁
Happy Monday from NYC! I have a big week ahead - launching my new business Doc & Glo on Wednesday and preparing for next week’s US Open! We have so much in store and I can’t wait to share all the details with you.
This week on Sincerely, Sloane, I welcome Brehanna Daniels, NASCAR’s first Black female pit crew member. Her journey is nothing short of inspiring, as she trusted her faith to guide her into a world she never expected to enter—let alone excel in.
In our conversation, we explore how being warmly welcomed into a new space can make all the difference. Brehanna shares how the support and acceptance she found in NASCAR motivated her to stay and break new ground. We also delve into the importance of representation and why it’s crucial for opening new pathways for the next generation.
Our conversation reminded me of one of the points we try to emphasize at the Sloane Stephens Foundation. The ultimate goal of our grassroots tennis programs isn’t to foster the next generation of pros, though that is a plus. The goal is to show our youth the new pathways that tennis can offer. For example, there are so many ways to be involved in tennis without playing professionally - facilities management, working at agencies or brands, working at tournaments, being a coach, connecting with potential clients while playing tennis, the list goes on and on!
As you’ll hear, Brehanna’s pathway to NASCAR has lots of parallels to this and she was introduced to an incredible career pathway as a pit crew member while attending Norfolk State University.
Tune in to hear Brehanna’s incredible story and to be reminded of the power of trusting your faith to open doors you never imagined.
