Sincerely, Sloane Episode #16 | Sybil Smith ✨

With family, anything is possible

This week’s episode of Sincerely, Sloane is one that’s incredibly close to my heart. I’m beyond excited (and a little nervous) to share that my guest today is none other than my amazing mom, Dr. Sybil Smith. Yep, I brought my mom onto the podcast, and let me tell you, it’s an episode like no other.

If you’ve followed my journey, you’ve probably seen my mom by my side through it all—whether it’s at tournaments or on my social media. But today, you’re going to meet a different side of her. We dive deep into our personal stories, talking about things we’ve never discussed before, even with each other. We explore the themes of love and loss, how we’ve both navigated grief, and the strength we’ve found in returning to our family roots during life’s toughest challenges.

My mom’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. She was the first African American swimmer to be named an All-American in D-1 history, studied at Harvard, earned her doctorate, runs her own businesses, and raised me and my brother. Her resilience, wit, and humor have always been a guiding light for me, especially during the hardest times.

This episode is not just a conversation between a mother and daughter; it’s a reflection on life’s ups and downs, the power of family, and the resilience that comes from facing adversity together. I’m so proud to share this with you all, and I know you’ll feel the love and strength that my mom brings to every aspect of her life.
